What to Wear to Your Boudoir Session (Hint: You Probably Already Own It!)

If you’re getting ready for your Denver boudoir photography session, you might be feeling a little overwhelmed about what to wear. First things first—don’t overthink it.

There’s no need to run out and spend hundreds on fancy lingerie (unless you want to, of course). Chances are, you already have amazing outfit options right in your own closet. A boudoir session is all about capturing you—your personality, your energy, your beauty—and the most powerful images often come from wearing pieces that make you feel confident and comfortable.

How Many Outfits Should You Bring?

For your boudoir session, I recommend bringing 3 to 4 outfits, with one extra just in case something doesn’t feel right the day of. Also, sometimes our favorite outfits can get snagged or torn. Lingerie is fragile! Having options gives us room to play with different vibes, moods, and looks throughout the shoot.

Great Outfit Ideas You Probably Already Own

You don’t need to stick to traditional lingerie (though that’s always welcome too!). Here are some client favorites:

  • A robe: Soft, silky, lacy, or cozy—robes are flattering and elegant.
  • Crisp white button-down shirt: Classic and timeless, especially when it’s slightly oversized.
  • A favorite band tee, jersey, or crop top: Something that shows off your style or has a personal connection.
  • Chunky cardigan or oversized sweater: Sexy doesn’t always mean skin—cozy textures can be just as stunning.
  • Anything from a lingerie store: Bodysuits, bra and panty sets, corsets, garters—bring what makes you feel 🔥.
  • Topless, implied nude, or nude: These are totally optional, but incredibly empowering if you’re feeling bold.

And remember—I’ll help you choose what works best for your body and vibe during your session. You don’t have to make all the decisions alone!

Don’t Forget the Accessories

Accessories can take your look to the next level and add fun, flirty, or meaningful touches to your images. Consider bringing:

  • Heels or boots
  • Stockings or thigh-highs
  • Pearls or layered jewelry
  • Ties, hats, gloves
  • A special item that’s personal to you or your partner (a jersey, military dog tags, favorite cologne, etc.)
  • Sports equipment or props with personal meaning

It’s the little details that can make your photos feel even more you—and help tell your unique story.
