As a Colorado wedding photographer, I love getting to photograph couples who choose to make their wedding day completely their own. Taylor and Blaine’s August 15th wedding was the perfect example—a true country wedding held at Taylor’s family farm in Nunn, Colorado, surrounded by family, their children, horses, and all the little details that made their day uniquely theirs. From rain-soaked vows to a beautiful sunset, a custom branding ceremony, and plenty of fun on the dance floor, this was one country wedding I won’t soon forget.
Their Littlest Wedding Party
Taylor and Blaine made sure their children were a big part of the celebration. Their 4-year-old son took on the important job of ring bearer, while their 2-year-old daughter was the sweetest little flower girl. Having their kids standing beside them as they said “I do” made the ceremony feel even more meaningful—it was truly a celebration of the family they have already built together.
Before Taylor walked down the aisle, she shared one of those incredibly emotional wedding moments—a first look with her dad. Watching a father see his daughter as a bride for the first time is always special, but there was something particularly meaningful about having this moment take place at her family’s farm. This wasn’t just a wedding venue; it was home, making the day feel even more personal and connected to their story.
When the Rain Came Pouring In
Mother Nature decided to add her own touch to the wedding day with a healthy dose of Colorado rain. With the weather rolling in, the ceremony had to be moved inside the tent, creating an intimate and cozy atmosphere for their vows.
But thankfully, the rain didn’t last forever. Once the ceremony was over, the clouds began to break and the sun came back out, creating beautiful rays of light across the property. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect for portraits. And while the adults were busy celebrating, the kids took full advantage of the leftover puddles and had a blast playing in them!
A Ceremony as Unique as Their Love
One of the most memorable parts of Taylor and Blaine’s wedding was their branding ceremony. The couple had a custom brand created specifically for their family and used it to brand a framed cowhide. It was such a meaningful nod to their country lifestyle and a unique symbol of the family they are creating together.
Rather than choosing a traditional unity ceremony, they incorporated something that truly represented them—and those are always some of my favorite wedding details to photograph.
Country Roads & Four-Legged Friends
What’s a country wedding without horses? After the ceremony, we took advantage of the beautiful property and captured portraits of Taylor and Blaine with the horses. The combination of the open land, rustic setting, and newly married couple made for some incredibly authentic Colorado wedding portraits.
It was the kind of setting that reminded me exactly why I love photographing weddings outside of traditional venues. There was room to breathe, explore, laugh, and create photographs that felt like them.
Sunset Did Not Disappoint
Just when we thought the day couldn’t get any prettier, the sun began setting across the farm. The earlier rain left the sky glowing, and the warm evening light created the perfect backdrop for some of my favorite portraits of Taylor and Blaine.
There is something incredibly special about a Colorado sunset, especially when you’re standing in the middle of the countryside with nothing but open fields and sky surrounding you. It was the perfect ending to their portrait time.
Let the Country Party Begin
Once the formalities were over, it was time to celebrate! The reception was full of laughter, games, dancing, and plenty of personality. Guests participated in the classic shoe game, shared laughs during the anniversary dance, and watched Taylor and Blaine take their first dance as husband and wife.
The evening continued with a sweet mother-son dance and father-daughter dance, giving everyone another chance to celebrate the important family relationships that made this day so special.
A Wedding That Felt Like Home
Taylor and Blaine’s wedding was more than just a beautiful country wedding in Nunn, Colorado. It was a celebration of five years of love, two children, two families, and a life they have built together. From their emotional first looks to their rain-soaked ceremony, custom family branding, horses, puddle-jumping kids, and sunset portraits, every part of the day felt authentic to them.
As a Colorado wedding photographer, these are the weddings I love most—the ones where you can feel the connection between the couple and their families and where the little details tell a story. Taylor and Blaine’s day was filled with love, laughter, and plenty of country charm, and I’m so grateful I got to be there to capture it all.
